Wallpaper Guide

We've put together this practical guide to help you estimate how much wallpaper you should order.

  1. Measure the height and width of the area you want to wallpaper - whether it's an alcove, a wall, or an entire room. Make note of any areas that won't need wallpapering, such as doors and windows.
  2. Determine the pattern repeat and offset of your chosen design. The pattern repeat is the distance between the start, end, and restart of a pattern. Knowing this is crucial for proper pattern alignment.
  3. Calculate how many rolls you need using the measurements of the area to be wallpapered, the pattern repeat, and the length of the wallpaper roll (each roll is 10 meters long and 53 cm wide).

Here's a rough estimate for you: For a standard ceiling height of 2.4 m, we usually calculate:

  • Three strips per roll for small pattern repeats
  • Four strips per roll for striped wallpapers
  • Two strips per roll for large pattern repeats

Quick example: If you're wallpapering a 2.5 m wide wall in a standard room with striped wallpaper, you'll need about five strips, so approximately two rolls.

  1. Our recommendation: Order an extra roll! Why? In case you make a mistake while hanging the wallpaper or if the wall gets damaged in the near or distant future, you'll have spare wallpaper on hand. This is particularly important because our handcrafted manufacturing technique can result in slight variations in patterns and colors between batches.
